This highly detailed map is centered on St. Petersburg with the Neva River linking the Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea) with Lake Ladoga. Both large cities and small villages are shown with their precise street-grid patterns to convey size, and the various types of fields and forests are well-depicted in the surrounding countryside. A key at bottom right further identifies roads, railroads, topography, and much more. While the author is unknown, it is a map of excellent craftsmanship issued only five years before the outbreak of World War I.
