This is the front cover of the January 1924 issue of Country Life. The snowy title at top is balanced by a map depicting the warmer regions of the Southeast and Caribbean, extending from Wilmington, North Carolina to the Florida Keys, Cuba and Hispaniola. It features small illustrations of several popular snowbird cities including St. Augustine, Palm Beach and Miami with warm color palates subtly encouraging the reader to head south. Further decorated by a sailing ship, tarpon, and compass rose in the seas. Published by Doubleday, Page & Company in Garden City, New York. Country Life magazine began production in November 1901 as Country Life in America and ran as a monthly magazine until 1942. Initially focused on rural Americans, the magazine shifted its focus more broadly on concepts of country living for an urbanizing population.
