This attractive book published by Peterson & Carwile in Deadwood illustrates the region's remarkable growth and development over the previous 30 years. There are a total of 61 unnumbered plates featuring bird's-eye views of Deadwood, Central City and Lead City. Also included are the famous Homestake Mine, other mining operations, Custer's Last Stand, Calamity Jane, and a photo of two Indians unfortunately described as “Uncle Sam’s Pets.” Oblong octavo, hardbound in brown cloth with gilt title on the front cover.
