This detailed map centers on the present-day Hesse region of Germany. It delineates political divisions and names many towns and cities, including Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Marburg, and Kassel. There is excellent topographical detail of the region's rivers, mountains, and forests. At bottom right there is a decorative cartouche with numerous allegorical figures enclosing a legend and distance scales. The title cartouche at top left is surrounded by the coats of arms of various cities represented on the map.
