This uncommon and lovely map depicts the northern and central portion of the continent. The source of the Nile, on the Ptolemaic model, begins from the lakes Zaire and Zaflan, near the Mountains of the Moon. Decorated by two strapwork cartouches and eight Roman seals at left. The map includes a dedication by Nicolas Blankaart, who was a professor at Leiden and created maps for Jansson. Latin text on verso.
