This map illustrates the ancient geography of the Barbary Coast from present day Morocco through the Tripoli region of Libya. The Atlas Mountains form a boundary between the coastal empires and Libia Interioris pars which is mostly obscured by the large, strapwork title cartouche. Tavernier's imprint appears in the cartouche at left, while the dedication cartouche at right is left blank.

A dark impression on a bright sheet with a coat of arms watermark, contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the cartouches. There are a couple of light stains in the image, minor toning along the centerfold, and soft creases at bottom center.
