Full set of the original edition of the list of atlases held by the Library of Congress. The first four volumes were compiled by Philip Lee Phillips between 1909 and 1920. The project was continued by Clara LeGear from 1958 to 1974. These volumes list over 18,000 atlases and contains many full collations, lists of maps, copious annotations, and indexes of authors, cartographers, engravers, and geographic subjects. This incredible endeavor is one of the most important reference works on the atlases and is an important addition for any cartographic reference library.
