A. Lake Tahoe California – Nevada, by Gerald A. Eddy, dated 1965 (22.9 x 16.9"). This attractive and detailed bird's-eye view depicts the Lake Tahoe region, extending to Truckee, Reno, Virginia City and Carson City. The rugged topography of the region is presented with a three-dimensional quality and locates numerous ski areas, golf courses, casinos, mountain peaks, and the road network to access these recreational features. Text at bottom calls the region an "All-Year Playland." Blank verso. Condition: Bright color on a glossy sheet with very minor foxing mostly in the margins. (A)
B. California's Golden County Placer County, by George Mathis, circa 1960 (21.4 x 16.6"). This map of Placer County graphically depicts the mountainous topography in and around the county, which lies just to the west of Lake Tahoe. Placer County was an important destination during the Gold Rush, and the map marks the locations of mines, the Emigrant Trail, and ghost towns. Historical landmarks and other points of interest are shown, including Palisades (formerly Squaw Valley) ski resort, which is marked with the image of a downhill skier. On verso is an elevation map and additional helpful information for tourists. Condition: Fine, issued folding. (A+)
