This pictorial map of Europe focuses on France and its possessions of Syria and northern Africa. Some of the countries in Europe are named, and tiny illustrations that represent each country fill the map, such as the Eiffel tower and grapes in France, a gondolier in Italy, and a bull fighter in Spain. On verso are photographic images of various sites in France, as well as French text describing the country.
This map was part of a series of 8 pictorial maps of French possessions around the world, published by the pharmaceutical company Vichy Laboratories to promote their products "Neutroses-Vichy" and "Vegerenyl," which are advertised on verso. Neutroses-Vichy was an antacid created to treat upset stomach, and Vegerenyl was purported to treat ailments affecting the kidney and bladder; however the Vegerenyl ad on verso is partially obscured by an ink stamp indicating that production of the product had been suspended. Printed by Petit Jean.
