This unique panoramic view of London along the Thames River measures an astounding 18 feet in length. Engraved on wood with place names at the foot, the map begins at Western Stone Wharf and Victoria Tower to the Isle of Dogs, then "We now cross the River, and the View is taken on the opposite Shore" from Greenwich Reach to the Royal Victualling Office. Composed of seven joined sheets that are rolled onto a wooden dowel with the original publisher's red paper cover with printed title affixed to the verso of the beginning of the scroll, with original string tie. Sold by Azulay, Thames Tunnel.

A very nice example with light foxing, minor soiling, and a number of short edge tears, most of which have been archivally repaired on verso. There is a full vertical separation near the beginning of the scroll that has also been archivally repaired. The ribbon is a bit worn and soiled but still intact, and the dowel has minor wear along the edges.
