This map covers the eastern Mediterranean from Italy eastward into Phoenicia. The map depicts the adventures of Aenaeas' fleet of twenty ships as he roamed the seas for seven years following the destruction of Rome (as most extensively described in the writings of Virgilius). In the end, only seven ships survived, as shown on the lower right portion of the map. The map is adorned with a decorative strapwork cartouche. Latin text and small engraving on verso with the imprint of Johannes Jansson.

A nice impression with moderate toning, a dampstain at right, a small chip along the right edge of the sheet, and old paper reinforcing the left blank margin on verso.
