This uncommon engraving illustrates the narrow strait that connects the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. The Dardanelles, vital to the defense of Constantinople, are lined with fortifications. The skyline of Constantinople is in the background. Published in Domenico Caminer's rare book on the contemporary war, Geschichte des Gegenwartigen Kriegs Zwischen Russland, Polen und der Ottomannischen Pforte.

A dark impression on a bright sheet with a tear that extends through the ship at bottom left that has been archivally repaired with old paper on verso. There is a bit of sticky residue along the top edge of the sheet on verso.
