This fascinating World War II era map by Joseph P. Kamp and A. Cloyd Gill depicts the presence of a "fifth column" in the United States. A key at bottom reveals the various types of organizations operating in the U.S. including Nazi Propaganda Centers, Communist Workers' Schools, Italian Fascist Centers, various boundaries, and more. In the bottom corners of the sheet are text panels warning of Nazi and Fascist penetration of the Army, Navy and defense industries. Text on verso provides a comprehensive list of organizations, “The Danger Spots in Your Community,” associated with the conspiracy which include the American Civil Liberties Union and the union Congress of Industrial Organizations. Published by the Constitutional Educational League, which in 1942 was indicted for undermining the morale of the U.S. armed forces. After refusing to divulge to Congress the source of the League’s financial support, Kamp was convicted of Contempt of Congress and served four months in prison. Self-folding in pictorial wrappers (4.0 x 9.0").
