This map about trout fishing, by John Held Jr., illustrates all of the different situations in which a trout fisherman might find himself, and serves as a good reminder that "it isn't so much what you catch it's the doing of it." The map depicts "opening day" with a brook filled with fishermen casting their lines, a bridge with a "grand fish" underneath, digging for worms, the location "where I lost a nice one," and a fisherman with a story about a fish "that long!" This map was published in the April 1929 issue of The Sportsman.
John Held Jr. (1889-1958) was an American cartoonist who is best known for his 1920's portrayals of dancing (including the Charleston), driving, playing sports, and other popular activities of the era.
