This lot of 3 botanicals are from Paxton's Magazine of Botany.. The images are remarkable in that they are all well engraved and rendered images of exotic specimens, including an orchid. Published in 16 volumes from 1834-1849 by Sir Joseph Paxton, the Magazine of Botany is considered a predecessor to today's horticultural magazines. It is highly prized for the brilliant colors of the plates and the beauty of the plants illustrated. Each fine engraving was hand colored, and treated with an egg white wash to preserve the color.
