A. United States of North America, by Aaron Arrowsmith Sr., circa 1802 (9.9 x 7.9"). A reduced version of Arrowsmith's important map of the eastern United States. Sixteen states are depicted with Georgia extending to the Mississippi River. The map provides very good detail of the Indian nations and forts on the western frontier. Engraved by Lowry. Condition: A clean, bright sheet. The lower margin has been trimmed, with the publisher's imprint and part of the engraver's imprint now missing. (A)

B. United States, by Joseph Mawman, dated 1819 (9.2 x 7.8"). This small map of the eastern United States includes the new states of Ohio, Indiana, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The short-lived Alabama Territory (1817-19) is also depicted. The western frontier is named Missouri Territory, with an area labeled Unexplored Country in present-day Iowa. Northwest and Michigan territories are located as well. Condition: Issued folding with light soiling, minor offsetting, and a manuscript notation in pencil in the Atlantic. (B+)
