This high quality promotional brochure for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad features an attractive 8-panel view of "The American Riviera," with rail lines extending from New Orleans to Pensacola and beyond. The view has an attractive three-dimensional quality with nice detail of the rivers around the Gulf and extends well north to the horizon. Includes 63 panels of text and illustrations describing cities and towns along the railroad, and contains a two-panel map showing all the lines of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Folds into pictorial wrappers (4 x 9").
The Louisville & Nashville Railroad was chartered by the state of Kentucky in 1850 and grew into one of the largest operators in the south with over 6,000 miles of track in 14 states. Unlike many other railroads, the Louisville & Nashville Railroad was fiscally strong throughout its history and earned the nickname "Old Reliable."
