This lot contains two sets of early views of Yosemite:
A. The Yosemite Valley, and the Mammoth Trees and Geysers of California, by T. Nelson and Sons, circa 1870, printed color (6.6 x 4.1"). This small 40-page guide contains an outline map and 12 colored plates showing the attractions of the Yosemite Valley including Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite Falls, The Three Brothers, The North & South Domes, and more. Hardbound in blue cloth with paper title label on the front cover. Condition: Plates are mostly clean and the text has scattered foxing. Front free endpaper has the stamp of "E.S. Denison, News Agency." Covers have light wear with bumped corners and a small stain on the front board.
B. [E.S. Denison's Yosemite Views], by E.S. Denison, circa 1880-81, black & white (6.0 x 8.9"). The same E.S. Denison mentioned above published his own volume of 50 Yosemite views. This disbound example contains 45 of these views, each with their own illustrated title of the plate on a separate page. Illustrations include Half Dome, El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, Yosemite Falls, and many more. Lithographed by Crocker & Co., San Francisco, mostly after photos by Fiske. Condition: Text block is tight. There is a hint of pleasant light toning with a few tears and minor soiling.
