Printed in blue ink, this map shows various oil fields around Texas with a circle focusing on the Blue Ridge Field near Houston with one section identified as the “big lease of the Bluebird Oil Corporation” selected by Henry H. Hoffman. The verso contains promotional text on the Blue Ridge Field purportedly taken from newspaper articles.

In addition to the map, this lot includes two letters from Hoffman dated July, 1921, two flyers with promotional text and an order form for shares on verso, the original envelopes, and a similar solicitation by another promoter, W.K. Clayton, for the Warren-Consolidated Petroleum Trust.

Henry Hoffman was a prolific and notorious Texas oil promoter - click here to see another Hoffman scam. Hoffman and his colleagues engaged in sales of oil exploration stock through letters making artfully crafted fraudulent claims for the properties supposedly controlled by the companies.
