This pair of maps were re-engraved for Jan Jansson's editions of the Atlas Minor, published in 5 editions between 1628-48. The copperplates for the original Atlas Minor editions published by Hondius were sold to parties in England between 1621-25. Jansson commissioned Pieter van den Keere and Abraham Goos to engrave new plates, which were close copies of the original editions. Latin text on verso.
A. Zurichou, (7.5 x 5.7"). Fine map of the northern part of Switzerland including Zurich, Schaffhausen, Basle, and Solothurn. The strapwork title cartouche incorporates the distance scale.
B. Das Wiflispurgergou, (7.3 x 5.6"). Reduced version of Mercator's map of the southwestern part of Switzerland shows Geneva, Lake Geneva, Lake Neuchatel, Lake Biel, Bern, Freiburg, Lake Thuner, etc. and includes a garland draped title cartouche.
