This attractive map of the sub-continent is dense with interesting detail. Political divisions, towns and cities, rivers, and topographical detail are shown. The Lakshadweep archipelago and the northern part of Sri Lanka appear. At bottom right, a striking, pictorial cartouche features an Indian village with houses of worship and elephants. The map is surrounded by an elaborate picture-frame style border, which was printed from a separate plate. Van der Aa's maps with the separately printed frame borders are much more uncommon than the standard editions without these decorative borders.

Excellent impression on a faintly toned sheet with the watermarks of a fleur-de-lis and the initials "AR" surmounted by a crown. There are short centerfold separations at top and bottom that have been closed on verso with archival material, and small remnants of hinge tape on verso.
