This finely engraved map illustrates the region Diego Lopez de Sequeira visited in 1518 when he became the governor of the Portuguese possessions in India. The map covers the Maldives, Sri Lanka, the Nicobars Islands, and northern Sumatra. Embellished with a pictorial title cartouche. This map was published in van der Aa's compilation of early voyages of exploration.

A dark impression on a bright sheet with Strasbug Lily and "ID" watermarks and huge original margins. Small manuscript ink mark at bottom right corner, still fine.
