A. United States, by Archibald Fullarton & Co., circa 1835 (10.3 x 8.1"). This small map of the United States displays a huge Missouri Territory, Northwestern Territory, and an inset with the Continuation of the Western Territory. Detail west of the Mississippi River is limited to the locations of Indian tribes, rivers and topography. The area from the Platte River to the Red River is named the Great Desert. Engraved by Gray & Son. Fullarton's imprint has been trimmed away at bottom. Condition: Backed in linen with light soiling that is mostly confined to the margins. (B+)
B. Map of the United States. Engraved for Buckingham's America, by Fisher, Son & Co., circa 1841 (9.4 x 7.8"). This uncommon small map of the eastern United States extends as far west as the border between the Republic of Texas and Louisiana. There is some topographical detail and many place names are identified. Iowa Territory appears as Ioway and borders Wisconsin Territory. Engraved by "the Omnigraph." Condition: Issued folding with minor offsetting from an opposing page of text. Clean and bright with an edge tear in the bottom blank margin. (A)
