This "aero" view of New York and the surrounding region was created by Edward W. Spofford and published by C.S. Hammond. It covers Manhattan, Staten Island, western Long Island, portions of New Jersey, and north along the Hudson River with an unusual three-dimensional quality. A legend at bottom locates "Aviation Fields" and concentric circles indicate 5-mile intervals from Columbus Circle on Manhattan. Newark Airport, built in 1928, is shown. The Tri-boro Bridge, begun in 1929, is shown as proposed. The George Washington Bridge, begun in 1927, is shown here as the Hudson River Bridge as it was known during its construction. Folds into printed wrappers (4.0 x 7.6") with title "Hammond’s Comprehensive Map of Greater New York (Aero-view) Price 25 Cents." No past sales records located and only three institutional examples located on OCLC.
