This lot consists of three atlas maps of the continent from the preeminent American atlas publishers of the mid-19th century. Each map identifies several towns and cities and includes fine topographical detail. They are all surrounded by decorative borders typical of their publishers.
A. South America, by Mitchell/Cowperthwait, from A New Universal Atlas, dated 1850 (12.8 x 15.8"). Condition: Contemporary color with light offsetting from an opposing page and light toning that is most evident in the margins. There are small tape remnants in the margin at top. (B+)
B. South America, by J.H. Colton & Co., dated 1855 (13.3 x 15.8"). Condition: Contemporary color with a stain in the right margin. (A)
C. Johnson's South America, by A.J. Johnson, dated 1863 (16.1 x 22.4"). Condition: Contemporary color with minor offsetting. Light toning and edge tears are confined to the blank margins. (A)
