This sparse depiction of Greece and its islands illustrates the expeditions of Alcibiades, an Athenian general who was successful during the Peloponnesian War. The map also covers the boot of Italy, part of Sicily, the western shore of Turkey and part of Crete. The ornate, flourishing title cartouche contrasts with the simplicity of the map.

Condition: A
A sharp impression with contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the cartouche, on a bright sheet with a large watermark of the French royal coat of arms. There is a bit of extraneous creasing along the centerfold and marginal soiling.
