This scarce and elegantly produced facsimile logbook commemorates the transcontinental flight of TWA Constellation Number 310. The aircraft was piloted by none other than Howard Hughes and TWA president Jack Frye. The flight was a publicity stunt to promote the Lockheed Constellation, an aircraft developed at Hughes' behest. The flight from Burbank to Washington, D.C. took six hours, 57 minutes, and 51 seconds and set a transcontinental speed record. The book consists of 31 pages, including a decorative full color map illustrating the route, 6 black & white charts, notes on weather conditions, flight and radio logs, and more. Spiral bound in red cloth with a silver plane and gilt stars on the front cover.
