This striking map depicts the island of Saint Maura, now known as Lefkada, on the western coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea. Roads, towns, political boundaries, rivers and mountains are well detailed. The map is handsomely adorned with three cartouches and two coats of arms. At bottom right is a cartouche dedicating the map to Matteo Sanudo, procurator of San Marco, with the lion of Venice and a deceased soldier. At top left is a bird's-eye plan of the Fortress of St. Mauro surrounded by drapery and an owl.
