This artist's rendering was published as a promotional item by the French government to encourage travel to New Caledonia. Drawn by Monique Cras, the map extends from New Caledonia to the Loyalty Islands with numerous ships and historical notes in the surrounding waters. An inset at top right details the 45-day route from Paris to Noumea, the island's capital. Related illustrations fill the verso, including an image of a native blowing a conch shell on the front wrapper. Accompanied by an 8-page leaflet with information on how to get there, hotels, tourism, and more.
