This handsome map of Cape Breton and the island of Newfoundland is filled with lots of coastal place names and details. The interiors are left primarily blank with some indications of topography and hydrology. The decorative landscape cartouche features a tree with drying fish, alluding to the rich fishing banks in the region.

A sharp impression with full contemporary color on a sheet with the watermark of three crescent moons. There is light dampstaining at right, minor toning and offsetting along the centerfold, and a couple of tiny cracks in the title cartouche that have been repaired with archival materials on verso.
