This is the Senate edition of Owen's report, which investigates the mineral lands along the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa and western Wisconsin. Contained within the text are four maps including the Geological Chart of Part of Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois (17.8 x 22.9") which depicts the lead producing region and locates numerous mines; Geological Section from the Mouth or Rock River through the Blue Mounds to the Wisconsin River (11.3 x 18.4") which combines a map, profile and section on a single sheet; the single-page Chart of the Great Illinois Coal Field (4.6 x 6.4"); and an uncolored magnetic variation chart (11.3 x 11.3"). Numerous other illustrative plates include geological sections, fossil plates and several related to the "Antiquities of Wisconsin." 191 pages. Disbound. The maps are very good with some light toning and minor offsetting. The geological section has a binding trim at lower left with loss of border. Disbound text has scattered foxing.
