Two early two-sided pocket road maps on yellow paper published by the Western Map and Publishing Company:
A. San Francisco Los Angeles Auto Road Map Showing Points Between [on verso] Thurston's Auto Road Map of Los Angeles Riverside Orange San Bernardino Counties, dated 1914 (18.8 x 23.7"). The recto map extends from San Francisco to Los Angeles and east to the Nevada border. A legend at bottom locates both automobile roads and wagon roads. The map on verso shows the Los Angeles region extending east to San Bernardino and San Jacinto. A legend at bottom reveals "Good Roads," Wagon Roads, El Camino Real, Trails, and gas stations. Folds into paper wrappers (3.6 x 8.7"). No examples located on OCLC. Condition: Minor creasing with light wear to wrappers.
B. Thurston's Auto Road Map San Francisco to Los Angeles Showing Points Between [on verso] San Francisco to Portland Auto Road Map via Eureka Redding Lake Tahoe and Klamath Falls, dated 1915 (18.8 x 20.7"). The recto features an updated version of the above map with new roads added. Includes large secondary title at top and mileages at right. The verso contains a road map extending from San Francisco to Portland with a key identifying Good Road, Good Mountain Road, Fair Roads and Poor, Rough Roads. Paper wrappers (3.6 x 8.7"). The rear wrapper indicates the publisher has responded to the demand for the map series by giving each of the 11 maps listed a separate number. Only three examples located on OCLC. Condition: Several small separations and an edge chip have been repaired on verso with paper tape. Map has separated from the wrappers, which have been reinforced with archival tape along the hinge.
