This finely engraved map is a reduced copy of Joris Carolus’ important map, but the nomenclature and some geographical features suggest that it was modeled on Jansson's map rather than that of Hondius/Blaeu. Some of the place names became badly distorted in the hands of the author or his engravers. An active Mt. Hekla smokes near the map's center. This map has been trimmed from the folio sheet, which contained maps of several islands.
