This map is a close copy of Ortelius' map with the same title. This handsome map of ancient France is based on information from Caesar's De Bello Gallico. It is engraved to show the mountains, rivers and forests with only a few ancient place names. The names of famous people and tribes of Gallia, as described by Caesar, are listed at sides. The three fine cartouches were updated from Ortelius' map and help distinguish the two editions. German text on verso.
