Handsome map of the Persian Empire during the time of the Safavid dynasty. It covers the region from the Caucasus to India, with the Persian Gulf coastline of the Arabian peninsula. Good detail includes rivers and hundreds of tiny villages. Beautifully decorated with a sailing ship, a fine title cartouche featuring a Persian ruler and two warriors, and a local surveyor beside the scale of miles. German text on verso, published between 1636-42 in either an edition of Newer Atlas or Appendix Atlantis.

A crisp impression with light offsetting and a 6" centerfold separation at bottom that has been repaired with archival materials on verso. Small remnants of hinge tape on verso.
