This large French map was reduced from Aaron Arrowsmith's four-sheet map of the continent. It extends from northern Europe and eastern Africa to the Bering Strait, Japan, and East Indies. The map is notable for its superb topographic and watershed detail, especially considering the remoteness of much of the interior. The Great Wall of China (Grande Muraille) is prominently depicted, and a notation off of Nova Zembla states that Dutch vessels wintered there in 1596. Published by Hyancinthe Lanlois in Paris.
