This is the complete issue of The American Journal of Science and Arts for July 1859. It is noteworthy for the inclusion of a 26-page article by Captain Blakiston entitled Report on the Exploration of Two Passes (the Kootanie and Boundary Passes) of the Rocky Mountains in 1858 (pp. 320-345). Blakiston explored both sides of the international boundary which is illustrated on a small map and profile section at the rear of the volume. The appendix also includes reporting on the Palliser exploration. This is the American printing of Wagner-Camp #318, printed in New Haven. 456 pages. Paper wrappers.

Condition: B+

The folding map has light toning and a bit of faint offsetting. The text is remarkably clean and bright with a faint dampstain along the top gutter of the second half of the volume. Wrappers are remarkably clean and intact.
