Simple, but handsome, map of the world on Mercator's projection showing the voyage of the British naval officer, Commodore Anson. In 1740 Anson and his crew sailed from Britain past Cape Horn to Manila and then onwards back to Britain. During this trip they captured a Spanish galleon and confiscated its treasure worth half a million pounds. The map shows the island of California and only part of Australia. There is little interior detail with the focus of the map being this important voyage.
