A. Catalina Island Pleasures Galore Afloat and Ashore, by Catalina Ticket Offices, circa 1930 (13.0 x 15.1"). This rare pictorial map of Catalina Island is filled with charming illustrations highlighting the recreation and attractions available on the island. 70 points of interest are identified, including Avalon Bay, the Casino, glass bottom boat tours, seal rocks, the Bird Park, and much more. In the water surrounding the island are various ships, ferries, fish, seals, pelicans, and Neptune. The map is further decorated by an elegant compass rose and strapwork title cartouche. Self-folds into a brochure with the title "Lets Go Place and See Things at Catalina," with text and black & white photographs on verso detailing various attractions. This is the only example of this map we have found. No artist is credited, but it appears as if the map was printed for Catalina Ticket Offices. Condition: Issued folding with a few tiny splits at fold intersections and minor color offsetting. (A)

B. Catalina Island - California's Magic Isle - Every Vacation Joy, by L.A. Lithograph Co., Inc., dated 1927 (14.0 x 6.0"). This folding brochure contains a pictorial map of the island in the style of Jo Mora or Ruth White. A key at top identifies 24 different points of interest on the island and prehistoric Indian village sites. The verso contains text and illustrations describing the island and its attractions. Self-folds into a brochure with attractive pictorial covers and stamps that read "Distributed by Travel and Steamship Department Union Savings Bank & Trust Co. Davenport - Iowa." Condition: Issued folding with light wear along the folds and a small price sticker on verso. Brochure covers are lightly soiled. (B+)
