This rare map of Europe appeared in the last edition of Heylin's Cosmography. The map extends to include Iceland and is well engraved with plenty of place names and topographical detail. It is embellished with a small title cartouche held aloft by two putti. Although there is no engraver's signature, the map may have been designed by Robert Morden. Thanks to research from Mead T. Cain, we now know of a contemporary advertisement for the 1703 edition of Heylin's Cosmography that stated that Morden was to be the author of the new maps.

Condition: A
A nice impression on a sheet with a "B" watermark. There is minor offsetting, a few short printer's creases at bottom center, and minor foxing along the edges of the sheet that just enters map image at top. A short centerfold separation crosses into the border at top.
