This elegantly engraved and uncommon map centers on Vicenza in northeastern Italy. It features beautifully rendered topographical detail of the region's mountains and rivers, including the Brenta and Bacchiglione. Verona, Schio, Bassano del Grappa, and Monselice are among the cities located. Armorial shields dot the landscape. A large inset plan view of Vicenza appears below the title on a ornate drape-style cartouche surrounded by grapevines and tangled roots. It identifies 23 locations of interest, including notable works of architecture by Palladio and various palazzi, cathedrals, and gateways into the city. Another drape-style cartouche at left includes additional information on the region.
