This is a very uncommon map from the work of the Protestant minister and oriental scholar Samuel Bochart (1599-1667). The map presents the Euphrates and Tigris rivers and their tributaries and locates ancient Babylon. Several place names are given in Latin, Greek and Hebrew. It is decorated with a title cartouche featuring merchants and a small vignette of a pair of lions.
