This Italian map is based on Ortelius' map of the continent, with the exception of the addition of a strait dividing the southern portion of the Malay Peninsula. Girolamo Porro originally engraved this map for Magini's edition of Ptolemy's Geography, which was first published in 1597. The plate made its last appearance in this work published by Raphael Savonarola. On a sheet of Latin text measuring 9.3 x 14.1".
