This large map of the continent is based upon Arrowsmith's earlier 4-sheet map, and extends to include southern Europe, the Arabian Peninsula, and eastern South America. There is a fair amount of geographical detail along the coastlines, particularly in the north and western coast. The vast center has little detail though there are routes crossing the Sahara and copious notations. A legend at lower right further identifies five explorer routes including Brown, Bruce and Mungo Park. The Nile appears to have its origin in a couple of tributaries arising from an extensive mountain range labeled Monts Al-Quamar ou Montagnes de la Lune. The south is filled with some geographical detail and the tribal regions are well depicted. Published by Hyancinthe Lanlois in Paris.
