This beautifully designed airline promotional map depicts the flight routes of Air Afrique from Paris to Kinshasa. Founded in 1961, Air Afrique was the official transnational carrier for French-speaking nations in West and Central Africa. Although the map shows part of Europe, most of the detail and all of the decorative features are concentrated in Africa, which is shown as far south as Angola. Under the flight routes and copious city names in Africa are illustrations of the continent's culture and wildlife. The map appears to be emerging from the clouds. Self-folds into a pamphlet with a lovely illustrated cover.
