This title page is from Guicciardini's description of the Low Countries, with allegorical figures within an architectural surround. Included are Neptune, Ceres, Hercules, and the lion of the Dutch Republic. On verso is a frame featuring the armorial shields of the various provinces and the motto of the Dutch Republic: "Concordia res Parvae Crescunt, Discordia Maximae Dilabuntur" (Small things flourish by concord, great ones fall apart through discord).
