This handsome small map of the Americas is sparsely detailed, but interesting nonetheless. The western coast of North America is truncated with a partial coastline and a notation indicating a possible Northwest Passage per the supposed discoveries of Admiral de Fonte. The British Colonies are confined east of the Mississippi River. This is the second state with the date removed from the cartouche and the comment concerning the discoveries of Admiral de Fonte added, published by Fortin. The map was engraved by E. Dussy, and the ornate title cartouche was designed and engraved by Arrivet.

A nice impression with contemporary outline color on watermarked paper with wide margins. There is minor color offsetting and toning around the centerfold and faint foxing.
