A. Aeroplane Map of Glacier National Park Montana and Waterton Lakes Park Alberta, by Great Northern Railway, circa 1935 (17.4 x 31.2"). This "aeroplane" map was published for the Great Northern Railway, and presents the rugged topography and drainage systems of both parks in bold color with a three-dimensional quality. Locates roads and trails in red overprinting and the Great Northern Railway in black at bottom following the Flathead River and Bear Creek. Includes a table of distances and index at bottom. Related text and illustrations on verso. Condition: A colorful example with a few short fold separations that have been closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)
B. The Canadian Rockies - Banff National Park - Yoho Park - Kootenay Park [in] Resorts in the Rockies, by Canadian Pacific Railway Company, dated 1927 (31.3 x 17.5"). Attached to the rear inside cover of this promotional pamphlet is an attractive and visually stunning map of the Canadian Rockies, extending from Lake Minnewanka southwest to the Columbia River. Red overprinting identifies points of interest including the Banff Springs Hotel, Chateau Lake Louise, Emerald Lake Chalet, the Banff-Windermere Highway, and more. A legend at left further identifies railroads, roads, trails, motels, camps, tea houses, waterfalls, glaciers, and more. Bound with the map is a 24-page tourist guide featuring eight beautiful water colors. Condition: The folding map and text are clean and colorful. Covers have light soiling. (A)
