This pictorial map was issued by the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) to promote their various affiliates - on this example, Georgia Tech's WGST in Atlanta. Affiliates are located from coast to coast. Illustrations across the map show stereotypical cartoon figures tuning in to the radio in various locales: a hunter and moose huddled around a radio in Maine; a gentleman picking up signals on the dome of the U.S. Capitol; a mermaid sunbathing with music in Florida; Indigenous peoples adjusting the dial in New Mexico; a filmmaker operating his radio and camera in California. Drawn by Charles Henry Forbell (1884-1946) a cartoonist and commercial artist best known for his short-lived but innovative strip Naughty Pete and his design work on Planter's iconic Mr. Peanut campaign.
