This unusual map presents the various Indian tribes that inhabited the state in the early 17th century including the Quinnipacs, Podunks, and Mohegans. Walking paths zigzag throughout the state with numerous small villages located along these routes. Illustrations of native wildlife fill the interior including a turkey, deer and bear. Two types of Indian villages and other Indian artifacts surround the map. Adorned by a decorative title cartouche, key, and compass rose. Drawn by Hayden Griswold and published by The Connecticut Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
